TALK TUESDAY: Machiko Skye

June 6, 2017June 2, 2017 / iamsupercarla / Leave a comment

It’s not the first time for Machiko to be featured on this blog.  I think she’s been here for the most part, and that girl has been my source of joy in my darkest of times.  Honestly, the day her momma Marga and I found out she was coming was the day we knew we … Continue reading TALK TUESDAY: Machiko Skye

Machiko Skye

April 17, 2011 / iamsupercarla / 1 Comment

It’s always a surprise, growing up. You are by far the best surprise we’ve ever had.  You see, she is my first love.  She’s stronger than how she often portrays herself, and I think it came as a surprise to her too, when you came into this world and she was braver. I may be … Continue reading Machiko Skye

For the love of postcards

September 24, 2014February 2, 2015 / iamsupercarla / 1 Comment

Do you still believe in postcards? I ask this question now because as of late, I’ve been travelling a lot.  As of late, my niece Machiko Skye has been learning to write.  With a command of language and comprehension beyond her years, she never fails to ask for a postcard whenever she would hear about … Continue reading For the love of postcards

Strength comes from the most unusual places

March 20, 2013 / iamsupercarla / 2 Comments

I remember laying across chairs during my father’s wake.  Machiko Skye saw me from afar and trotted down to me, while holding a small pack of Skyflakes, one of her favorite snacks. Fondly, she asked, “Tita Carla, may I sit here?”  For a two-year-old, her speech is close to impeccable. “Sure, Machiko,” I replied. So … Continue reading Strength comes from the most unusual places

I found a pretty teapot

November 4, 2012November 4, 2012 / iamsupercarla / 1 Comment

So yesterday, Marga and I were talking about Machiko Skye’s upcoming second birthday party.  She said, to be cute and girly about it, we should just host a tea party!  And I couldn’t agree with her more. While walking around S&R, we were already taking mental notes which baked goods we’re planning to serve on … Continue reading I found a pretty teapot

#SirBoy Lives Here

Post memories here.
In this blog, he is everywhere.

Did I miss anything?

Do you have something to recommend, like a recipe to make or an exhibit to visit? Did I post a work of yours without crediting you properly? Would you like me to help you promote a product or have me try out one? Are my random outbursts shocking you to the nth level?

Let me know what you think. Email me at ohcarlaloo@gmail.com and I'll get back to you within 24 hours. If not, I owe you a song and dance number.<3

Celebrating National Poetry Month!

Grab tea and maybe strong coffee. Let's go on a feels trip.

I usually talk about…

I'm a frustrated photographer (I now own an S95! I bought my Canon 600D just last year. Yay! Now, to maximize its potential....), a romantic novel freak (though I do regret reading it more than I should), an absolute F. Sionil Jose fan, and often indulges in texting reading, singing in the shower and talking long walks.

My life has been irreparable since my father's death, 12 days after my birthday. One of my greatest accomplishments is I got to take him to a buffet that he absolutely enjoyed. He loved food more than anything, and it was a feat to satisfy his appetite, a feat I conquered. I miss him everyday.

I've successfully completed my training and am now part of the premier development bank in the country. I hope to start something great with it. If you're looking to make a difference, just email me.

This blog hopes to unite my two worlds: the development banker and the creative shit in me. It's a wish I am hoping to make come true. Don't you just love optimistic folks?

I am the proud granddaughter of Pedro Aguinaldo Susi. My father, Wilfredo Diaz Arriola, is my hero.
