Coron Day 1

(Please note that all of the photos for the next few posts are taken by me and my brother Ted.  Anyone who would like to use these photos, please shoot an email to let us know where you’ll be using them.  Courtesy please.  Thanks! *grin*)

We arrived right on time.

Please ignore the girl. She was taking so long to leave and Daniel didn’t want to stay there and have the facade all to himself. A lot of people were waiting for their photo opp at Busuanga’s welcome banner.

You know you’re in for a good vacation when the airport scenery looks like this.

A question and bokeh

I know I have not been writing as much as I should have.  The deadline is just around the corner, and quite frankly, it’s something I cannot ignore anymore.  I have to put in more than what I usually do and do it faster, so I can still have the luxury of having a good enough elbow room to edit, format and unify whatever it is I am required to submit by the end of the month.  Is it exciting?  Somewhat.  Do I feel any pressure right now?  Maybe.

(I just couldn’t help myself.  I had to do a Janina San Miguel question.)

Yesterday, I was browsing through some memos and spotted new information.  According to a new CSC ruling, before any employee can be promoted to an officer grade, he/she must have a Masters degree.  It didn’t state what kind; just have one.  For those who are already officers and still don’t have degrees, they better start getting one then, since they won’t be moving up anytime soon unless that requirement is fulfilled.

I find it quite nonsensical because some people don’t need higher education to perform excellently at their job.  There are tons of successful entrepreneurs who succeeded in their own ventures without even finishing college.  So I don’t understand the reason for this ruling.  Nonetheless, since it’s already there, I would have to comply to it, if I want to move up at all.

Looking at my record, I don’t think an MBA would suit a Journalism graduate.  I am now exploring Creative Writing for my Masters and although it is far from what I am doing now, I don’t think I’d want to take up anything else.  I’m still eager to do my photography classes; maybe when I’ve passed my deadlines, I’ll be more comfortable making plans for a longer period of time.

The only good thing about that CSC ruling?  It forced me to study again.  And I think that’s a good thing.

(Insert nerd theme here.)

How about you?  What do you plan to do to further your education?  Are there any plans at all?  Will you do the same thing to be up for promotion?  Share your thoughts.

Question of the day. And some bokeh for our viewing pleasure. (I wonder if I can pull this off.)

Photo challenge will resume soon!  I promise.  There are very few things that I get to complete in my life — this just has to be one them.

Day 12: Sunset

This is the sunset we get at Circle Road.  For a moment, I actually thought that living in the south means it’s a less congested area.  Boy, I thought wrong.

I should re-do this day.  Once I find the opportunity to find a better location.

Day 11: Something blue

Did you have arts and crafts when you were in high school?  We had some in mine, and one project is to make stars.

I made these stars to complete that project.  I still can’t believe it’s still here.  My mother made it part of the decorations of our living room.  I think it’s sweet.

I don’t think she remembers I made them though.  Oh well. :)

I would like to thank my fantastic S95 for having the color accent feature.  I absolutely love this photo.

Day 10: Childhood memory

I chose  these subjects because they bring me back to the early 1990s, when these things were my ultimate comfort foods.

Chocolate Crinkles
I loved these things because of the powdered sugar.  I love that the outside is tough but the inside is moist and soft.  I get to lick my sweet fingers as a finisher.  They don’t make them as good anymore.

Dunkin Donuts Choco Honey Dipped
What I am most thankful for the last year is the invention of Big Dunk here in the Philippines.  This snack never changed its taste.  I still love this, though I have to admit I haven’t eaten this as much.  I guess when you grow older, you can’t help but keep track at the amount of sugar you consume in a day.

Lala Chocolate Snack
I remember the old lady that sells this thing for 25c a piece.  The wrapper has changed and now, it has an ube (purple yam) variant.  That one doesn’t taste as good; it’s predominantly artificial flavoring.  But this…. still the same after all these years.

KitKat Snack Bar
I remember this the most because while Pringles Cheese has lesser flavoring and M&Ms had oilier shell coating, this is just the same.  Have a break, have a KitKat.  Still the same.  I remember my lola getting me this after work, with a heavy heart of course.  She’d much rather get me the banana cue from the hamlet.  She gets me both. :)

For some reason, I remember my lolo.  And I miss him so much.  I never stopped.
