MUSIC MONDAY: An Innocent Warrior – Vai Mahina, Sulata Foai-Amiatu, Matthew Ineleo

It has been a great Presidents’ weekend!  I have to admit these long weekends are something to get used to.  Saturday was spent with friends, Sunday just us two, and Monday with family.  It was a well spent quick vacay… AND I BECAME OBSESSED WITH MOANA.

I know the movie came out last year, but we didn’t get the chance to watch it in theatres.  So when Roku loaded it in their streaming videos, I SWEAR I loved it the moment I first heard everything.  I can’t recall a Disney princess having a richer back story and a more memorable realization than Moana.  I just absolutely loved it.

So much in fact that I kept listening to the music.  And I just had to bring back Music Monday for it!  Seriously!  But first, let’s just adore baby Moana for a moment here.  And the first scene when she made friends with the sea.

OHMYGOD I SWEAR SHE’S SO ADORABLE I CANNOT EVEN.

Who are we kidding!  Baby Moana forever.  😍

As I was saying, husband and I loved the soundtrack so much that we started playing it in the car all weekend.  I loved it more when I started using it as my ambient music before falling asleep.  Honestly though, this first song was the one that really hooked me in.  The serenity of the music and the richness of the vocals tug at the heartstrings unfailingly.

How about you?  What was your favorite Moana song?

Have a great week ahead!

MUSIC MONDAY: Lost Boy by Ruth B

We spent Memorial Day weekend in Maryland, hanging out with good friends.  It was quite a drive from Jersey; with the construction by the Delaware bridge, there was an additional 45 minutes to the usual 3.5-hour drive.

This song came on and I just looked at Le Mari.  I remembered him saying that his father would play Peter Pan whenever he was sick.  He grew up with that lost boy in mind.

With the heat pounding our windshield and the traffic making his legs hurt, the ethereal voice of Ruth B filled our small space in the road.  The depth of the lyrics combined with Le Mari’s sentiment, this song easily took a spot in our favorites list.

What’s your summer sentiment?

MUSIC MONDAY: True Colors by Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake

I have always loved Anna Kendrick.

Okay, that’s a lie.  I was so annoyed by her character in Twilight but apart from that, I’ve loved her sincerely.  I mean, who wouldn’t?  Have you seen her Twitter and Instagram feed?  So funny, so natural, so real.

She is hilarious as hell, and she’s never hesitant to show her inner fangirl.

So when the word started spreading that she sang with Justin Timberlake at Cannes, I just had to put it here.  It’s not Cups, but yeah it will do.

I love her harmony, she’s just amazing.  Makes me want to go back to the choir again.

But just in case you want to see her kick more ass, check her out with THE Chenoweth.  Stunning.

MUSIC MONDAY: Surrender by Cheap Trick

Yesterday’s celebration is the first of many special holidays that I am celebrating with Le Mari.  While it was very much evident that I missed my family, everyone seemed to have rallied to make sure that homesickness is the last thing on my mind.

So in my sister’s kitchen, while prepping Mother’s Day lunch, I absolutely cannot shake this song out of my head!  Damn it, Jessica Day!

Anyway, so I ended up singing only the parts that I know!  It was so crazy that my sister started signing it too.  Needless to say, it didn’t lessen blow and the song is still stuck in my head.

According to Allmusic, the song is an anthem describing the differences between parents and the teens today.  It was released in the 70s, so I guess this has something to do with drug preference?  LOL.  How judgmental can I be!

Here it is, and I hope that it gets stuck in your head as well.  It’s not that bad, it is after all a teen anthem.

But then again, we all know I’m not a teen anymore.

Have a great week, everyone! <3

MUSIC MONDAY: Never Forget You by Zara Larsson and MNEK

I’ve missed a couple of our Music Mondays and honestly, I missed it.  I’ve been quite preoccupied with family stuff, but I’m back now!

One of the things that I am starting to get used to here is the music.  If you haven’t noticed before, I’m more of an old soul.  Most of my music is centered on 80s rock ballads.  Hahahaha.  I honestly believe that Air Supply is a genius, and that a memorable ballad must be accompanied by fantastic drum exhibitions.

I’ve been hearing this song over and over, especially at Z100, Le Mari’s favorite radio station.  It has bugged me for so long.  Thanks to SoundHound, I was able to find out the title.

Dance music has really evolved since I first discovered it.  I’ve been constantly surprised how much I like them!  Hahahaha.  I think I’m slowly expanding my music selection.

Plus, the lyrics are amazing.
