I don’t want the whole world

I’m not really a fan of country, but these folks just know how to tug at the heartstrings.  I’m glad to be around it.

I think it was Dylan who introduced me to country music.  He’s more of the country rock, but The Band Perry is just pure adorable!  I absolutely love this video All Your Life because of the vintage photobooth set up.

And yes, I guess the lyrics had something to do with it too. :)

I just want to be the only girl you love all your life

To be McQueened

The tragic passing of Alexander McQueen in February 2010 has the fashion world mourning.  It was such a great loss; he was truly an artist, in every sense of the word.  He left us with a range of masterpieces to be continually inspired with.

I am a middle class worker and there is no way, based on my current pay, that I will ever afford a McQueen.  Oddly enough, this morning, his work was the first thing I looked up on Pinterest.  (For those who haven’t noticed, I am a Pinterest fan.  Click the upper right button to view my boards.)

Sometimes, I envy the spending power of the upper class.  They get to experience and wear the genius of so many artists and designers; us middle class men merely look on.  I cannot deny the fact that I do sometimes aspire to be as well off as them.  But I know my limits, and I am grateful that the media has extensively covered (or at least as much as they can) the works of these modern Da Vincis.

I hope no one would mistake my admiration and aspiration as being ungrateful for what I have.  I am grateful; I know I am still far more fortunate than most.  I know the poverty statistics, mortality rates, feeding programs and the like.  I am not unaware.  But you see, high fashion is the cloud I float on.  A girl can dream still you know, even at 2-.

And then the stork came…

I have heard quite a handful of “how you were born” stories.  Most of them are far from what really goes on.  Admittedly, though the process is actually messy, the results are pretty damn fine.

Especially when they come with a handful of tulle and colors and ribbons.

I am quite amazed at how creative photographers and mothers can be showcasing the beauty of their subjects and children respectively.  I hope when my time comes, I’ll be just as creative as them.

Happy thoughts! :)

I need better storage space

For those who know me best, I know what you’re thinking.  Yes, my room is eternally chaotic.  Yes, it is a challenge for me to keep it organized.  No, I don’t think you can have too many books.  And yes, shoes have the same mantra.

It’s not like I hate organization; I actually do.  I just have a hard time actually doing it.  I wish I can create space, I really do, because I believe it’s just something I lack.  If I had more space — a long shelf for my shoes, a mini library for my books, an elevated rack for my books — I’m pretty sure I’ll have everything in order.

So I’ve decided to have someone make this bed for me.  Not only is it the ingenious way of storing books, with this bed, you can practically store anything!

I saw this on Pinterest and immediately, my mind went everywhere.  I can store DVDs, books, shoes, old magazines — finally declutter my room!

I wonder how much I’m going to pay for this.  Nonetheless, I believe it will be worth it.  :)

You know what else will be worth it?  A shower that gives you the option of having rain or waterfall.  At first, I couldn’t believe my eyes, then I started to click it.  And it’s for real!

This is another genius invention!  I just wish it wasn’t so expensive.  From the website, it costs $2,948.00 and that’s a lot of money for a shower head.

Still, I want it.  I wonder when I’ll be able to afford it.  I hope Home Depot or Homeworks or whichever home improvement store here in the Philippines start to carry something like this.  I bet it will be more affordable than the published US price.

So there.  Wants. :)  Actually, that’s a want and a need.

Note to self:  meet with a carpenter soon. :)

Five questions

So I am still not over with Adele.  For people who constantly listen to her music (ehem), it is easy to assume that she has a somewhat serious attitude.  Somber even.  But really, her songs are usually of heartbreak and relationships, so it’s normal to think that Adele is a serious interview.

USA Today asked her five questions in this interview and I just doubled with laughter each time I hear her laugh.  She’s so down to earth, cooky and absolutely goofy.  And I believe I love her more because she’s like a sailor — curses like crazy!

(If I had an accent like this, I WOULD NEVER SHUT UP.)
