From the front desk: coming back from the holiday

SICK HUMOR:  Before leaving the office Monday afternoon, I called my supervisor and said, “Happy Holiday” since the next day was Labor Day.  Wtf.  I thought I would bruise myself or something.

Still very much in love with the internet connection speed here at work.  Not only can I browse Multiply that fast, but I managed to update my albums and constantly proofread Marga’s journal for work.  Wasn’t able to update because (a) Monday was pretty hectic because it was the end of the month and everything that needs filing had to be filed immediately and (b) Tuesday (yesterday) was Labor Day, therefore no work, no internet and I am too lazy to be patient with that pathetic dial-up connection we have at home.  So I guess there is quite a lot of updating to do.

Monday was actually very nice.  I mean, I got to do a lot of work in the office, aside from the never ending task of answering the phone.  I don’t know why sometimes I get so tongue-tied.  Sometimes, I even have to stare at the company name just so I can remember what to say and say it smoothly.  I guess you can say that the opening spiel is that long.

I was still hung over with Sunday’s celebration though.  Bianca turned five at Callifornia Pizza Kitchen, where Marga is having her practicum., and it was really a feast.  Dylan was there by invitation.  Hurrah for us!  First time ever in my family did they invite my significant other.  Me likey a lotty.  Jaja was there also. Basically everyone was there but Lolo and Lola.  They were a tad shy to go to a restaurant given that Lolo is in a wheelchair and has to be spoonfed.  I don’t know why they had to feel that, because I honestly can’t remember a single moment that we ever felt they were a burden.  Anyway, we practically ordered everything on the menu, so I decided to walk to work for the next two weeks or so.  LOL.

Monday was also Women’s Suffrage Day for the Philippines.  I don’t think a lot of people were able to remember that, and sadly, I don’t think a lot of people considered that important.  It took a man to have the bill approved that the women be given the right to vote.  Claro M. Recto herself denied that first petition.  It was only approved in the late 1940s.  Isn’t that ironic?

Tuesday was another ironic day.  It was Labor Day and no one was working.  How about that!?  LOL.  Spent the evening bowling with family though I didn’t really enjoy it that much.  Was cramping and feverish half the time because of my impending menses.  Ugh.  I hate it when that happens.

Been spending a lot of time away from Dylan lately.  He needs to focus on his review and boards.  However, I am a bit upset coz that doesn’t seem to be his goal recently.  He’s been talking a lot about work and earning money and not having to depend on Lola Linda for his monthly allowance.  I don’t like it when he worries about things like that.  I don’t like it when he loses faith on his family.  Lola Linda is his family; she will not let him down.  Besides, I want him to focus on studying right now.  I don’t want him to fail.  I don’t want him to have another reason to  be sad.  He doesn’t deserve to be sad again.  He shouldn’t be sad again.

I know he can ace the test.  He just needs to prepare well enough for it.  He can’t wait another six months, that’s for sure.  I’m rooting for you, Pappy.
