Well, the most traditional thing we’ve always done is to gather with my father’s side of the family on Christmas, and before New Year’s, the mother’s side.
For the recipes, my grandmother would always make these sticky rice cakes from a big big big wok (like about 40" in diameter) burning over coal and just slow cooking the rice cake till the wee hours of the morning. The men in the family take turns in mixing the delicacy and it has become a tradition to have suitors and/or boyfriend/s do the stirring as part of the initiation.
And may I just point out that Dy has been part of that tradition for about 3 years now. Word.
