The cab driver thought I was born yesterday

This was when I went to visit Dylan in St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City.

Me:  Sa MRT GMA Kamuning Station po.
Him:  Ah, dun ba.  Sige.
(beep as the meter starts)
Him:  Saan ka pauwi niyan?
Me:  (silence)
Him:  Makati ka pa ata.
Me:  Hindi ho, Cavite.  [lie]
Him:  Gusto mo hatid na kita hanggang doon?
Me:  Ayoko.  Traffic sa Coastal, talo ako.
(silence)
Him:  Sa St Luke ka ba nagtatrabaho?
Me:  Opo.  [lie]
(silence)
Him:  Ay nakalimutan kong pindutin metro.
(beep meter resets)
Him:  Ikaw na bahala, alam mo naman siguro kung magkano hanggang don.

The next paragraph is what went on in my head:
Pwede ba hindi ako pinanganak kahapon.  Gets ko na mahirap kumita ngayon, pero yang panglalamang mo, wala kang patutunguhan jan.  Wala kang mapapala, at wala kang kikitain jan.  Sana lang talaga, matutunan mong galangin pasahero mo.  Hindi lahat pinanganak kahapon.

Me:  Eto po (pays).  P70.  Yan ho ang binabayad ko hanggang dito.

LEKAT.  Pinoys scamming Pinoys.  EVERYDAY.  And we wonder why we don’t progress faster.
