Then the music played

My iPod is on shuffle and I was pretty jovial when it played Borderline/Open Your Heart (Glee) as its first track.  I was close to dancing before I uproot my mother from her corporate chair so we can finally head home.  Then this song played.

And the song kept playing.

Malas mo, ikaw ang natipuhan ko.

Bianca’s second recital with Maylene the dalaga

The title is supposed to be something far wittier than that, but I couldn’t think of anything else!  I see these little girls almost every other weekend but it wasn’t until I saw these photos did I realize how much they’ve grown.

Bianca is enrolled at Lyric Music Studio and she studies the piano.  If I’m not mistaken, this is her second recital.  It was held at the Filipinas Heritage Library along Makati Avenue.  So right after the long workweek, I walked my ass over there to at least catch the tail end of it.

When I got there, Bianca and  Maylene were already doing the art that Marga and I hav perfected:  camwhoring.  Hahahahaha.

I caught her in the middle of a serious instruction: "Ate May take my photo with the guitar! Dali!" Hahahaha. I love my cousins and their jologs moments. :)

The venue was quite cramped to be honest, especially with all the instruments in it (read: grand piano in baby library).

Bianca with her most loyal fans. I believe Lola Mommy is about to spearhead a nationwide fan club for her.

Can you believe how fast time flies?!

Of course, the pro had to show how bathroom photos are taken. Just forgot to wipe the mirror though, so I had an accidental mole on the cheek. Hahahaha.

Filipinas Heritage Library is hidden behind this fantastic landscape. So yes, another photo there too.

Good job, Bianca on your recital!  I am looking forward to hearing your version of Canon in D. :)

A song and some photos

When you're dreaming with a broken heart

Waking up is the hardest part

You roll out of bed and down on your knees

And for a moment, you can hardly breathe.

Wondering, "Was she really here?"

Is she standing in my room?

No she's not.

Coz she's gone, gone, gone, gone, gone.

Gabriel and the Vagabond

A handful of people expressed their concern when I posted this status on Facebook:

I think it’s clear to see that even God don’t love me or else why would He leave me this way.

So it shows that a lot of people care about me (yay!) and that a lot of people have not heard the music of Foy Vance (boo).

Foy Vance is not a newcomer in the music industry.  He’s Irish (from Northern Ireland, to be exact) and Gabriel and the Vagabond is the first EP he released in 2006.  I first heard this in a teeny bopper show (not quite sure if it’s the OC or something else).  It caught my attention that very first time and it had never left my playlist since.

Thank you very much for all those who worried.  No, I am not suicidal and no, I do not think the Good Lord will ever be in a state of mind where He would just leave me.  Listen to the song (or view the lyrics below) and see just how rejoiceful this song is.  Maybe you’ll include it in your playlist too.

There’s a man in the corner and his clothes are worn and he’s holding out his hand
You could see in his eyes as the people walk by, he knows they don’t understand

Ya see they just think he’s gonna take their money and go and spend it all on dope
Then a man stopped by and I saw a smile inside him, as he gently whispered hope

Well the tramp started to cry, just kept saying, “Why? why? why?
Could you see I’m a dying tonight? Well I’m 32 and I’ve got this one pair of shoes
And a bad taste in my mouth.  I think it’s clear to see that even God don’t love me
Or else why would He leave me this way.

Then Gabriel just smiled and said “Be peaced my child.  Salvation is here today.”

He got up to his feet and he sang Hallelujah.  People were turning around in the street
He looked them in the eyes and he sang, “Hallelujah!  There’s someone here that you gotta meet
Someone you just gotta meet.”

When the vagabond turned around well without a sign, Gabriel just smiled and disappeared
Then he looked to the crowd and they were laughing out loud
But he could not see them for tears
When his vision came round, there was a young girl on the ground
I knew she was fine and hard to cope
She never was a fighter until he laid beside her, and gently whispered hope

They got up to their feet and they sang Hallelujah.  People in the street were turning around.
They looked them in the eyes and they sang, “Hallelujah!  There’s someone here we have found.”
They sang, “Hallelujah, Hallelujah!  We are the voices crying in the wilderness! Hallelujah, Hallelujah.”
The people in the street started their sins to confess
And a chorus of, “Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah!”
Every knee will bow and every tongue confess and the voice of one crying in the wilderness
Crying, “Hallelujah, Hallelujah”

Hallelujah.  :)

Reasons why I love Haley Reinhart

Actually, there are only three.

With Pia Toscano and Casey Abrams gone, I actually think she has a huge shot in the finals.  So Haley fans, rally!  Lauren fans will vote like crazy because she was in the bottom two this week.  So vote like crazy for Haley too! :)

Reason #1:  Rolling In The Deep

Reason #2:  House Of  The Rising Sun

And finally, Reason #3.  Janis Joplin.

Oh Haley.  I just love the raspy quality of your voice.  :)
