Japanese and Ethics

It’s the last working day of the week, and I am desperate for good news.  The Bank has been struggling to get its reputation back on its feet, and all of us are struggling just trying to separate rumor from fact.  Of course, this is apart from the fact that the workload has not diminished (for some reason, it appears to have multiplied).

Good news (Part I!)!  The Bank has announced the qualified participants for its sixth (6th) batch of management trainess.  For everyone who made it, CONGRATULATIONS!  Prepare for the worst year of your life!  Hahahaha.  At least, that was how it felt like for me.  :)  Nonetheless, it got me here, so I really don’t know if it is as worse as it felt.

So yeah, I was browsing the news and I came across this headline:

Japan Earthquake: Ethical Residents Return $78 Million From Rubble

In my head, I couldn’t really believe it.  Not only did the Japanese people not loot, they have started RETURNING things to the police.  Even more unbelievable, the police LOOKS FOR THE OWNERS and returns items promptly!  These are not just simple items.  These “things” are thousands of wallets and thousands of safes!

Is that your wallet? You better return it to the owner if it's not yours. Or else.... I WILL TICKLE YOU!!!!

As of the moment, an estimated 7 billion yen has been returned.

WOW.  That is just…. WOW.  Every nation should aspire to have citizens with such honesty and heightened level of ethics.

WOW.  I wish to live to see the day something like this happens to the Philippines.

Should you work from home?

I’ve always envied the people who had the option of working from home.  Mostly, this is the creative lot, and to be honest, I miss being part of that lot.  For almost two years now, I’ve been waking up early and blow drying my hair, putting on make up, smiling like this is the shit and all that, and sometimes, there are days when putting a bra on is just not worth it.  But then I would have to, because it would be obscene especially in a starch white shirt and pencil skirt.

I laughed my ass off when I saw this flowchart because it makes perfect sense.  Usually, the flowcharts I post are made of nonsense, but this one is actually a good guide in deciding whether or not your employees (or you) should work from home.

And yes, I am keeping it for reference so that when I have my empire of writing and photographing geniuses, I would know where their home addresses are and it would be easy to hunt them down.  Hahahahaha.

Not bad at all right? :)

Things I hold on to

Yes, this is another Harry Potter post.  No, I am still not over it.

I still wish they’re together for real.

Gotta love fan fiction.

I held my breath for this one.
I wish I went to Orlando when the cast went on the rides with kids!

Must consider all contributing factors.

PLEASE BE TOGETHER FOR REAL!!!!

And I just died right there.  Hahaha!

Reunited with the Flames

I have been trying to live a healthier lifestyle, and although it has been to no avail (as of tonight, at least), I managed to trim down all the excesses that I used to indulge every so often.  I don’t remember the last time I ate at Mister Kabab, or the last time I had crispy liempo at Kanin Club, or the last time I had an entire cheesecake.  Yes I can finish an entire cheesecake.  Do not pretend you can’t.  I know you.  There’s no use hiding.

So when Adah and I realized that it has been too long since we last saw each other, we decided to meet up at a favorite spot:  Flaming Wings.

The last time I was here, their menu was a bit um… traditional (read:  printed and laminated).  Now, it’s quite revamped.  They even managed to put a trademark on their dessert, Wicked Oreos.  They increased their prices but  nothing more than P5.

I don’t know why we even needed the menu.  We knew then what we were having.  And it’s no surprise.

I had my usual Tenders meal with smokey barbecue sauce and ranch dip.  The good thing about this meal is they finally included bottled water as one of the drink selections (among red iced tea, pink lemonade and mango juice).  We decided water was the only thing healthy we’ll have.

Adah had her Wing meal 2 wings in original sauce with bleu cheese dip.

I can’t quite recall if we ever talked at all.  I do recall having a moment of silence after taking the first bite.  It has been a good five months since we last had this, if not more!  It was heavenly.  It tasted exactly the same way when we last had it.

Of course, we cannot do a Flaming Wings run without having their signature dessert.  Usually, we don’t have to worry about the Wicked Oreos since Euske was there to finish the third piece the last time.  I love this dessert; it’s just pure indulgence!

That’s Oreos wrapped in batter and deep fried to perfection, matched with vanilla ice cream with sprinkles, finished with confectioner’s sugar and cocoa powder dust.

Yes.  It’s so good.

I need not say how our plates looked like a good 30 minutes after.  :)

I wish I can say that I’ll be back for more, but after the fitness evaluation in the gym, I know I have to embark on a far healthier lifestyle.  I am only in my early years, and already I have to worry about a rapidly expanding hipline.  I wouldn’t really be surprised if people would think I gave birth to Chuchi!  Marga is almost back to her original weight!

So yeah.  It was good.  It was sooooo goood.  It pains to say that I won’t be back soon, but I definitely will be.  Maybe after five months again.

Flaming Wings can be found in front of De La Salle University Taft, Aguirre St. in  BF Paranaque and along Katipunan, QC.

Day 14: Eyes

This was a tough one.  Not only is it hard to shoot eyes; it’s also hard to find a person willing to stare at my camera for awhile.

Since we had visitors last night, I decided to make her one of my subjects. :)  Of course for a moment there, I felt like the mean aunt, because in this photo, she just finished crying her eyes out.  I think she was sleepy at the time.

I am planning to redo this soon, prolly when I have more time.

And I know it has been a pretty long period since I last touched on the subject of completing the photography challenge, but I’m still determined to do it all the way through, in spite of the overwhelming amount of paperwork in the office.

Oh, and her name is Madison Sophia. :)
