An excerpt

An excerpt from Daniel Kahneman’s Thinking, Fast and Slow:

Why be concerned with gossip? Because it is much easier, as well as far more enjoyable, to identify and label the mistakes of others than to recognize our own.

Fuck. They are on to us.

Unwinding

It’s raining cats and dogs here in Cebu, and while I wait for my next client call, I strutted my stuff over to Pinterest.  It’s probably my major source of quick relief, so when the office blocked the website from our computers, I have to admit I died a little bit inside.

We could all use an escape nowadays.

I just love reading nooks.  That’s probably because I never really had one when I was younger.  Looking at reading nooks make me realize so many stories missed during my childhood, only because I didn’t have a silent space to think about things.  I fell in love with a lot of reading nooks a while back, but this is the latest one:

And maybe I would have avoided wearing these glasses had I thought of better lighting for my bed.  I will definitely find a way to squeeze something like this in my dream home.

I don’t know.  I’ve always thought I will go for a minimalist feel, but judging the pins I’ve been liking for the past 15 minutes, I guess home to me looks rustic.  Who wouldn’t love this office space?  It’s just so dreamy.

Enough dreaming for now.  I can hear the driver honking.  I hope he brought an umbrella this time.

The life you live (Preview of The Great Gatsby)

I am excited for The Great Gatsby!

After watching this clip, I almost immediately found this quote.  Happenstance?  I think not.

I am looking forward to be Perk’d.

I read this book early this year and it has rekindled my love for young adult stories.  I know I seem to old for it, but I don’t really give a flying F.

Marga repeatedly told me that it was depressing, but for some reason, I found it comforting.  Maybe because it’s a good indication that I’m just among the many troubled minds out there, and just like them, I too seek clarity.

Here’s the official trailer of The Perks of Being a Wallflower:

And this being an Emma Watson post-Potter flick is just a plus.

Tell me you’re excited too! :)

J. K. Rowling’s new book!

I woke up today to some glorious news:  J. K. Rowling finally announced the title and release date of her new book!

The Casual Vacancy is Rowling’s first adult book.  It’s also her first work outside of the Harry Potter universe.  According to Times Live, the book will be “blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising.”

My pants are on fire!  Boogie dance!

Here are some more general details about the book:

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils … Pagford is not what it at first seems.  And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen.  Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?

I am excited very much with this news.  I am such a book freak!  Or rather Harry Potter freak.  Whatevs.  I know you’re excited too.

The book is set to be released worldwide on September 27.  I wonder if the Philippines gets to have an earlier date, just like the movies…
