Oh, Jeffrey Campbell

Okay, so I am currently at work.  We’re going to be audited in a few weeks, and to be honest, the pressure is not doing me any good.  I’m actually shaking my knees and when I am done pounding the keys to finish my output for review, I get sleepy.  Even though the fact of the matter is I downed a good venti cup of Caffe Mocha this morning, the caffeine effect appears to be weaning off already, and I can feel the fatigue settling on my shoulders.  It is NOT good at all.  And besides, it is never a pretty sight to have an employee literally fall asleep on the job.

Here I am entertaining myself and introducing (some of my) readers to Jeffrey Campbell.  I don’t know why I haven’t mentioned the company before; they’re most probably the modern god of platforms.  And I say that because I absolutely positively desire almost every single shoe they come up with.  Seriously.

A little backgrounder:  Jeffrey Campbell started designing shoes long long ago.  It wasn’t until recently did his family decide to venture in the fashion business.  Yes, believe you me, it’s a family business.  He has his daughters test his shoes and he never fails to get creative.  Although his distribution range continues to grow season after season, Jeffrey Campbell (the company) remains relatively small.

I know.  It is quite depressing (at least for me) to not own a single pair of his shoes.  Mind you, because of its uniqueness, it comes as no surprise that the price tag is quite steep, especially for the middle class person.  But nonetheless, that is not a reason for me — and the rest of us — to stop dreaming and drooling over these fantastic platforms.

Some people may say they look impossible to walk in, but really people.  Look at the big picture.  Jeffrey Campbell is just making shoes and already making waves in the fashion industry.  His shoes are selling like hotcakes.  I HIGHLY DOUBT that these would be so uncomfortable if they’re selling that fast.

Unless of course, the fashion fierceness level is worth the pain.

If I am not dubbed as a shoe fan after this, well… dub me then.  Hahahahaha.  Oh and just in case you are wondering, I can start accepting Christmas gifts as early as now, provided that they are these shoes.

Jeffrey Campbell shoes range from $115-500.  You may view their retailers here.

My admiration for Liz

It’s not a surprise.  This brand has been a household name since its launch in 1976.  So even when the world’s first woman CEO of a Fortune 500 company passed away in 2006, many clamored to make sure the brand stays.

Liz Claiborne.  Ah.  Nothing else would sound quite as exquisite.  Liz Claiborne, a Belgian-born American designer started her own line of clothing when she became frustrated how clothing companies do not have outfits for working women.  She founded Liz Claiborne Inc in 1976, earning $2 million in its first year.  The brand was such a success that by 1978, its profits were $23 million.

I didn’t know this until I researched, but apparently, Liz Claiborne changed the way we shop.  I know for men it doesn’t really matter because it’s a vain activity, but how Liz Claiborne marketed her products changed the way malls are designed now.  She is the first designer to have insisted that her collection – clothing, handbags, shoes, purses and accessories – be put together on the department sales floor instead of separating them into clothing categories.  Because of that innovation, we no longer have to find a shirt, then a pant, then shoes to coordinate an outfit.  Liz Claiborne made sure we had everything we needed in one area.

Liz Claiborne retired from active management in 1989 and succumbed to a long fight with cancer in 2006.  Her line is now exclusively distributed by JC Penney.

To some, this might sound like a blonde post – ditzy and vain.   Early this morning, I purchased a Liz Claiborne Heritage wallet and I remember the first time I got a Liz Claiborne (thanks, Ate Mel).  It’s so simple and chic and somehow it made me feel like I’m making a smart decision.  The brand is such a statement, almost becoming a staple in every working woman’s closet.  It’s amazing how a simple frustration did that.

And that department store idea?  It’s so simple.  I wish people who have such simple ideas that can possibly provide more comfort and ease in the way we live muster enough courage to speak out and suggest it, if not do it themselves.  God knows we need simple ideas lately.  The big ones just keep fucking us up.

So yeah.  I’m hoping to win that bidding war on eBay for that Liz Claiborne patchwork satchel.  May the spirit of Liz Claiborne guide my purchase.  :)

Hat Me d:)

I seriously seriously seriously hope that looked like a smiley with a hat.

Anyway, growing out my hair proved to be quite challenging.  I  am beginning to think I cut it too many times this year, that it might be slightly offed by moi.  It’s taking its time to grow and well, the awkward length is making me feel less than fab.

So the natural solution, apart from the trim, is a hat.  And did I have fun trying on hats. :)

I don’t know what’s up with my hand.  Hahahaha.

In the end, I didn’t get any hats.  But I just might get a pair of shoes.

Note to self:  visit the salon for some protein treatment.  I believe that’s what my hair needs right now.  And probably a hat.  I better pick one soon because to be honest, cold weather isn’t much of a hat season.

Unless your hair is susceptible to frizz.

Print on me.

Just some Chictopians whose prints I fell in love with.

(This post is slightly in mourning since I learned the fact that we’re not allowed to wear prints to this event at work.)

Bag ’em. Take ’em and go.

Current fascination:  shoes.  But I can’t be talking about shoes all the time.  That’ll only make me look like I’m trying to be that Imeldific.  Though I do have a goal of having enough pairs to wear one for each day of the year.

Anyway, looking at my closet, not only do I lack proper clothes, but I also lack bags.  So I headed back to my world at Chictopia for inspiration and a lot of ladies there have great choices.  From Alexander Wang to Balenciaga, H&M to Urban Outfitters, Forever21 to vintage items, these ladies have it all.  Now the next step would be having them all in my closet.

And by them, I mean the bags. :)

So yeah.  I am in dire need of shopping and everything superficial that will make me instantaneously happy.  Even for just five minutes.  Or at least the purchase period.  But then again there’s that looming piece of news I am yet to receive.

Hmmmm.  Take them and go. :)
