Portraiture

Recently, I enrolled myself in photography classes, but I have to admit, I have not practiced what I have learned as much as I should have.  I often ask myself which kind of photography would I love to be immersed in.  Early on, I developed a liking for landscapes, but not only are they fickle, they require a lot of travel.

Oh how I wish I can live in my suitcase.  That is one luxury I will always dream of having.

Apart from landscapes, I am absolutely in love with portraiture.  I wish I can see more faces — or rather be brave enough to approach strangers — and make them last longer.

Here are some celebrity portraits that I just adore.  Can you name them all?

Audrey Hepburn
Ben Stiller
Dave Franco
David Bowie
Kevin Costner
Liv Tyler
Lucy Liu
Marion Cotillard
Meryl Streep
Michael Caine
Paul Newman
Robert DeNiro by Martin Schoeller
Stanley Tucci
Tom Hiddleston
Zach Galifianakis

Day 6: From a high angle

My dad has never completely left his provincial roots, so you can just imagine his joy when it comes to caring for plants.  If you look in our frontyard, it’s not really the ideal planting area, but somehow my dad managed to grow two indian tress, a bougainvillea, and an atis tree.

And he climbs this ladder when it’s time to pick the fruits.  I love his mini harvest.  They’re always the sweetest.

I think I know already what his habit will be after retiring.  And I better get him a much better ladder then. :)

Modern garden gnomes

I really don’t see the point of having garden gnomes but for some reason, people find it as a need when it comes to decorating their front yards.  From what I’ve read, garden gnomes started becoming a trend because of the local myth that gnomes help your garden at night.  This little mister started spreading across Germany, France, England and wherever gardening is a serious hobby.  (Thank you, Wiki.)

Now, the thought of having a tiny dude with a long beard and sporting a red hat hanging out in my front garden is not particularly appealing to me, so imagine my delight when I saw these modern garden gnomes.

For the record, I wasn’t really planning on having a front lawn.  I’m more of a backyard person.  But these gnomes are just so damn cute!

Click on the gnomes to see where you can buy them. :)

Oh and for the record, I don’t think I can ever be a garden person.  Something about kneeling on dirt is not so appealing to me.  But that doesn’t mean these gnomes are not cuuuuute. :)
