MUSIC MONDAY: See Me Now by The Kooks

This song hit home.  Really really hit home.

It has been a while since I hit random play on Spotify and thanks to the new ‘Discover Weekly’ tab, I get to have a taste of new music that’s right up my alley.

I don’t know why it took me this long to showcase The Kooks.  But I’m happy that this is the first song I’ll feature.

Frontman Luke Pritchard wrote this song to his father that passed away when he was so young.

I guess that pretty much sums up everything there is to know about this morning’s selection.

If you could see me now
If you could see my smile
See your little boy
Oh, would you be proud?

Hope all is well with you.  Have a great week ahead.

MUSIC MONDAY: What Do You Mean? by Justin Bieber

Okay, so I know I just recently featured the kid, but I have to say I’m becoming a fan!  Thank God, Le Beau doesn’t have any problems with it.

I have always seen him as an entitled d*ck, but yeah, he’s really talented.  Maybe he really meant what he said during his roast.  Maybe he really is turning it all around, going back to his roots, and focusing on his music.

OMG I THINK I’M A BELIEBER.

MUSIC MONDAY: Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware

It has been a writing weekend for me, as you may have noticed.  I finally found the time to narrate most of what had happened during our trip to Bali.  I had to upload it in parts because I just want to fully document everything.

So, on a quiet Sunday evening, I was playing Spotify in the background when Jessie Ware’s song came on.

20150914 Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware

I think the lyrics did it for me.

Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If you don’t wanna try,
But all that I’ve been thinking of
Is maybe that you might
And, baby, it looks as though we’re running out of words to say
And love’s floating away

And then the chorus started singing with her.

I am just absolutely in love with voices that are melancholic and at the same time, somber.  There was a tone of pensiveness in it, and I just basked in it for a while.  Mulled it over whether I should add this to the growing Our Ultimate Wedding Playlist.

What do you think?

MUSIC MONDAY: Where Are Ü Now by Skrillex and Diplo feat. Justin Bieber

Yes.  That just happened.  I’m featuring Justin Bieber on this blog.

I first heard this song at the carpool karaoke with James Corden.

I didn’t think the kid would be so personable.  The media sure has a way of making him appear so friggin’ obnoxious.  And maybe for a time he was, but then now he’s not.  Talk about maturing in the public eye eh?

I heard this song again, when we were stranded in Bali (more on that in the next few posts, promise) and it immediately made me think of Le Beau.

I need you
I need you
I need you
I need you
I need you
I need you the most

While this is far from the love song you’d usually hear from me, I have to admit it cheered me up while stuck in a place that didn’t really bring me anywhere near Le Beau.

I hope I’m not the only one who enjoyed this.

MUSIC MONDAY: Brave by The Shires

Again, another Spotify find.

20150824 Brave by The Shires

It was recently added to the Date Night playlist.  And that’s one thing LDR couples don’t really have much of:  date night.  In my case, we’re on opposite sides of the world and the closest I’ve been with him is 12 hours apart.  His sun is my moon and vice versa.  And at this rate, we’re one of the lucky ones.

Don’t get me wrong; friends and family know how we make the most out of our situation.  I am also eternally grateful for friends and family that know exactly when and how to lift my spirits up when I do miss him more than I could handle.  But date night… well, nothing beats date night.

And on one of those days I chose to just wallow on the fact that I am so far away from the one I love, a music streaming app gave me the picture of a great date night.

Well, let me hold your heart, let me be the one
You’ll never have to feel so alone
Let me bring you back to the world, back home

Can’t wait to have you come home to my arms, love.
