MUSIC MONDAY: Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware

It has been a writing weekend for me, as you may have noticed.  I finally found the time to narrate most of what had happened during our trip to Bali.  I had to upload it in parts because I just want to fully document everything.

So, on a quiet Sunday evening, I was playing Spotify in the background when Jessie Ware’s song came on.

20150914 Say You Love Me by Jessie Ware

I think the lyrics did it for me.

Cause I don’t wanna fall in love
If you don’t wanna try,
But all that I’ve been thinking of
Is maybe that you might
And, baby, it looks as though we’re running out of words to say
And love’s floating away

And then the chorus started singing with her.

I am just absolutely in love with voices that are melancholic and at the same time, somber.  There was a tone of pensiveness in it, and I just basked in it for a while.  Mulled it over whether I should add this to the growing Our Ultimate Wedding Playlist.

What do you think?

MUSIC MONDAY: Where Are Ü Now by Skrillex and Diplo feat. Justin Bieber

Yes.  That just happened.  I’m featuring Justin Bieber on this blog.

I first heard this song at the carpool karaoke with James Corden.

I didn’t think the kid would be so personable.  The media sure has a way of making him appear so friggin’ obnoxious.  And maybe for a time he was, but then now he’s not.  Talk about maturing in the public eye eh?

I heard this song again, when we were stranded in Bali (more on that in the next few posts, promise) and it immediately made me think of Le Beau.

I need you
I need you
I need you
I need you
I need you
I need you the most

While this is far from the love song you’d usually hear from me, I have to admit it cheered me up while stuck in a place that didn’t really bring me anywhere near Le Beau.

I hope I’m not the only one who enjoyed this.

MUSIC MONDAY: WatiBigali by Big Ali ft. Wati-B

The entire weekend was just all about recuperating.  Really.  It has been a jampacked week (and I’m not even done with my Bali posts yet!) so I just slept in both days.

Oh wait.  We welcomed my cousin and his family from New York last Saturday.

Man, I think I am still out of it.  But I have to admit, this music snapped me back to life.  I believe this is French.  Overheard while watching Blue Is The Warmest Color, this music had the right kind of upbeat and ambiguity to it.

And no, I don’t think I’ll be listening to more of this anytime soon.  Hehehe.

Have a great week, everyone!

MUSIC MONDAY: Into The Ocean by Blue October

Quick post for this lovely tradition.

I’m blogging to you live from Kuta, Bali, Indonesia!  We’ve been stranded since Saturday but we’re all good.  While our luck in flying home has obviously run out, everything else is well as we are surrounded by the kindest Balinese people we’ve ever met.

Can’t wait to tell you all about this vacation-turned-extended adventure.  For now, let’s appreciate the face that Bali’s beaches are not bad to get lost in.

MUSIC MONDAY: That’s All by Frank Sinatra

Our Saturday meetings have recently been my source for these posts, and to be honest, they’re not bad at all!

As the term slowly reaches the finish line, we found ourselves growing much closer to the cafe employees and patrons.  A couple of weeks back, one of the regulars made sure to stream his music throughout the cafe, and we ended up having a music-filled writing session.

This weekend, though, we revisited some classics.  I remember first hearing this song from my cousin’s same-day edit video.  She was one of Jason Magbanua’s first clients and the version he used from their SDE is the one with Gary Granada.  (You can watch it here.)

At first, we were struggling to find out who’s the original version.  Then, one of my co-mentees dropped that line:  Frank Sinatra.  Of course.  That’s the only voice that would feel like you’re being courted and wooed from head to toe.

Plus it doesn’t hurt too, that you’re surround by grounded people with old souls.

That’s all.
