A question and bokeh

I know I have not been writing as much as I should have.  The deadline is just around the corner, and quite frankly, it’s something I cannot ignore anymore.  I have to put in more than what I usually do and do it faster, so I can still have the luxury of having a good enough elbow room to edit, format and unify whatever it is I am required to submit by the end of the month.  Is it exciting?  Somewhat.  Do I feel any pressure right now?  Maybe.

(I just couldn’t help myself.  I had to do a Janina San Miguel question.)

Yesterday, I was browsing through some memos and spotted new information.  According to a new CSC ruling, before any employee can be promoted to an officer grade, he/she must have a Masters degree.  It didn’t state what kind; just have one.  For those who are already officers and still don’t have degrees, they better start getting one then, since they won’t be moving up anytime soon unless that requirement is fulfilled.

I find it quite nonsensical because some people don’t need higher education to perform excellently at their job.  There are tons of successful entrepreneurs who succeeded in their own ventures without even finishing college.  So I don’t understand the reason for this ruling.  Nonetheless, since it’s already there, I would have to comply to it, if I want to move up at all.

Looking at my record, I don’t think an MBA would suit a Journalism graduate.  I am now exploring Creative Writing for my Masters and although it is far from what I am doing now, I don’t think I’d want to take up anything else.  I’m still eager to do my photography classes; maybe when I’ve passed my deadlines, I’ll be more comfortable making plans for a longer period of time.

The only good thing about that CSC ruling?  It forced me to study again.  And I think that’s a good thing.

(Insert nerd theme here.)

How about you?  What do you plan to do to further your education?  Are there any plans at all?  Will you do the same thing to be up for promotion?  Share your thoughts.

Question of the day. And some bokeh for our viewing pleasure. (I wonder if I can pull this off.)

Photo challenge will resume soon!  I promise.  There are very few things that I get to complete in my life — this just has to be one them.

Then the music played

My iPod is on shuffle and I was pretty jovial when it played Borderline/Open Your Heart (Glee) as its first track.  I was close to dancing before I uproot my mother from her corporate chair so we can finally head home.  Then this song played.

And the song kept playing.

Malas mo, ikaw ang natipuhan ko.

Oh to be preppy!

One of my biggest frustrations in my styling life (as if) is the fact that I can’t seem to fit myself into prep.  Really.  Something about the school girl outfit is not really synching with my personality.  Maybe it’s my thunder thighs or the fact that my legs are obviously built to run or whatever.  I can’t seem to nail this look.  So I looked it up.  Hahahaha.

According to WikiHow:

Prep is someone who cares about their appearance enough to look good — but not so much that they are superficial. They are clean cut, conservative, classy and classical.

Conservative, I am not.  Classy, maybe on Sundays (MAYBE).  Classical… well, I like Canon in D.

But let’s face it:  since these girls and boys invaded our television sets, prep has once again made its way in the scene (though I believe I am featuring it here far too late).

I know I will only be featuring ladies' looks today, but come on. Who can resist posting Chuck Bass?

So once again, I’ve consulted the fashion minds of Chictopia and some from Pinterest.  I swear these two sites are soooo counterproductive but aaaargh.  It’s addicting.  Who wouldn’t be inspired with these?!  Really?!

Inked

I am afraid of needles.  So for me to overcome that fear, I have decided to get inked.  Not in the near future, but definitely get inked.  I see a lot of my friends already doing it (shoutout to Slice!  Julie!  Cha!  Eo!) and I can’t do what they do.  No half sleeves or near the ankle or back tats for me.  I just want this one.

For me, it’s enough.  This is enough.  :)

Day 8: A bad habit

I’m quite pleased to announce I have kicked this bad habit. And I’m quite happy to have a friend who’s willing to exhibit it for me for this day’s challenge, even though he’s already exerting efforts in quitting.

Thanks, Allan. :)

So the day’s challenge comes at a time when the Philippine government is trying to ban smoking in all public places. It’s quite sad since our President smokes, and some of our legislators too. I heard Chiz Escudero say that the law should also respect the personal space of smokers, not just the non-smokers. I think what he’s trying to say is, the law should not require everyone to just stop smoking because for some, it is a compulsion, if not an addiction that they’re still in the process getting rid of.

I quite agree with that. I mean, quitting smoking is quite hard. There is a component in cigarettes that makes it addictive to the user. And it’s really a process. Some people say just go cold turkey, but let’s admit it; some are made of harder stuff. So there. I like the designated smoking spaces rule. At least they’re just confined to one space and non-smokers will just have to avoid that area.

Anyway, good luck to quitting. You’ll notice the difference when you quit. :)
