Some inspiration

It has been raining and storming the past couple of weeks.  Although it does create the perfect temperature to self-impose a holiday (because it is such a shame to waste a perfectly good bed weather), we still begrudgingly drag our feet to work while we curse the day we ever left school, since apparently, that’s the only institution allowed to declare typhoon holidays at the very last minute.

So in my head, we need a little inspiration to get us to Point B.

So suit up, load your guns, and brace yourself, dear working class.  It is time to yet again kick this week’s ass.

Genuine hilarity comes in simple forms

So I have been having a horrid week.  And by that I mean, it is the first time in my time here in this company did I feel that I am working.  I KNOW.  They say when you truly enjoy the work that you do, it doesn’t feel like work.  But it really feels like work right now.  Like right this very second.  So yeah, I am not enjoying it.

I make it a point to keep my spirits up through random Internet clicking every couple of hours (if not more frequent —- but then again I have so much work to do lately so yeah, couple of hours indeed).  Today, this is what I ran into:

So FREAKING funneeeeeeh.  Hahahahahaha.  I just started laughing right here!

Ah… simple joys. :)

Please get me an Ikelite!

With our recent Coron trip, I cannot help but regret the fact that I did not purchase an underwater casing the moment I got my Canon S95 for cheap.  Although the view and everything above water were absolutely and ultimately picturesque, I must insist the view underwater is much better.  There was an entirely different world down there!  It would have been amazing to document something like that.

I think the entire clan is planning on going back a couple of years from now, enough time to save up, plan the homecoming, and get PADI certified.  But I think it is also enough time to save — or await fantastic gifting — for the Ikelite Underwater Housing.

Look at that beauty.  The Ikelite Underwater Housing can allow you to bring your camera up to a depth of 200 feet!  HELLO, COOLIO!  I know right!

It’s far more expensive than the usual Canon case that we get, but it’s only because it’s Ikelite.  Ikelite boasts  of its superb excellence and quality when it comes to their products.

Notice the rings above?  It’s a built in gear system that will allow you to access your ring functions with ease.  All S95 users know how it took a long getting used to that ring function, so having this is quite a relief.  Glad someone thought of it!

It also has an easy open latch that allows you to just drop you camera in for a easy peasy set-up!  I am loving this more and more.

This baby comes with one 1cc tube of silicone lubricant, vinyl lanyard, flash diffuser and flash deflector.  The Ikelite Underwater Housing for Canon S95 (#6242.95) retails for $325.

I wouldn’t mind having this as a gift.  *ehem*

Amy Winehouse joins 27 Club

I woke up to the news that Amy Winehouse was found dead in her flat on Saturday (Sunday here).  Here’s the news from People.com:

Grammy Winner Amy Winehouse Dies

Saturday July 23, 2011 01:00 PM EDT

Amy Winehouse has died.

The troubled singer, whose unique and soulful voice made her a Grammy winner, was found dead at her London apartment on Saturday, according tovarious reports. She was 27.

“We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist and performer,” a statement from her U.S. record label reads. “Our prayers go out to Amy’s family, friends and fans at this difficult time.”

London’s Metropolitan Police released also a statement about finding a body but didn’t identify the singer: “Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased,” the statement reads, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail. “On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Inquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.”

The singer, who was to some as well known for her struggles with addictionas her music, was in rehab as recently as May and canceled a planned summer tour of Europe in June, following a disastrous appearance in Belgrade, Serbia.

But Winehouse’s musical accomplishments were many, including nearlysweeping the Grammy Awards in 2008 with her album Back to Black, which scored five trophies including record of the year, song of the year and best new artist. Unable to attend the Grammys due to legal troubles, Winehouse performed via satellite from London during the ceremony.

The singer had a tumultuous relationship with Blake Fielder-Civil, whom shemarried in 2007. But the on-again, off-again couple were officially divorced in 2009.

That’s some pretty amazing talent gone to waste.  I mean really.  Pia Magalona could not have said it better.

Such a waste.

For those who know someone or is friends with someone or who has a family member struggling with the same struggles as the 27 Club members, DO NOT EVER stop reaching out to them.  They do not know that they need  help; KEEP GIVING IT.  Force it if you must.  Troubled souls will rest in peace better if they’re at peace here.
