Turning to Adidas

I am a Nike whore.  Really.  I don’t remember ever buying a pair of running shoes from anywhere else but Nike.  Ever since I started running, it has always been Nike.

My mother and I shopped the entire weekend.  Because of the big sale in the south, I just had to save a little on running shoes.  After all, it is a period of austerity, at least for me.  With upcoming school and paying for it myself, I want to save what I can, so I was counting on the sale to save a few thousands.

True enough, the sale was worth it.  The downside?  Nike ran out of everything under women’s running.  My heart stopped.  I immediately called Dylan in a panic, and he was quick to quip, “Get an Adidas.”

For me, the statement sounded like, “YEAH I SAID IT.”  But I had no other choice.  My two runners are just in a sorry state.  I don’t have that much cash on me.  I need to start training for a long distance run for early next year.  I need those shoes.

So I went over to Adidas and started browsing.  To be fair, the selection looks good.  I wasn’t able to take photos because the place was just chaotic.  Then I noticed something:  women’s running have like three designs left.  I looked at the soles of each design and the two had a dreadful statement taped to it:  LAST PAIR.

I turned over the funkiest looking one.  And it was marked with this:  6.5 (1), 7(2)(1), 9(1).  I know those numbers.  Those are sizes and available stocks.  I am a 7.  I have to get that 7.

And so I did.  Funky yes?

So tomorrow (if not later), I’ll let you know how it feels running in these.  Adidas is endorsed by Katy Perry, and I really like her.  So she can’t be that wrong right?

It still feels weird seeing stripes.

Oh by the way, I got this for 10% off and because I shopped so much, I got an additional 5% rebate.  Sale shopping is nice.

Your Running Guide

Okay, so since I’m all about revamping myself starting this week, I might as well post this infographic.

What is an inforgraphic?  Hahaha.  It’s basically a photo of all the facts, tidbits, news and what nots about a particular topic.  If you have drawn a sketch of how to get to your house from the freeway, yeah, you’ve done an infographic.

But I’m not about to show you how to get to  my house.  I’ve been browsing the new categories at Pinterest recently and I stumbled upon this running infographic.  It’s the most helpful one I’ve seen so far!

I don’t know about you, but really this will be my guide in the coming weeks as I reintroduce running into my lifestyle.

This is serious, you guys.  I really need to change how the public sees me.  Really.

Getting back on track

Normally, weight gain doesn’t bother me.

It’s a lie.  It feels magnificent.  Not having to worry about losing weight because your man loves you as you are?!  Totally reminds me of Channing Tatum’s first lines in his vow from the movie The Vow:

I vow to fiercely love you in all your forms, now and forever.

That has to be the best line in their vows ever.  Anyway, moving on…

It’s different to have your family critical of you; I think it’s something that they normally do.  Like breakfast.  It’s part of being a family, criticism.  So it slighted me in the littlest manner possible whenever they would criticize about my weight.

Then it became lunch topic.  And a greeting.  “Oh wow, you’ve gained weight!” or “You look so… great!” I am assuming by ‘great’ people are talking about width.

And then…  it became an MRT pass.  A lady offered me her seat when she saw me.  I think she assumed I was pregnant.  I took it anyway, sayang e.  But it happened again.  A girl frowned at everyone and was like, “Here take my seat.”  Then… I realized it has been happening all the time.

Even at church!  I usually hear mass at the Bel Air locale every Thursday night.  Twice, I was offered to sit in the nursery.  Yes, the place where the moms with kids and pregger moms  sit.

Now, I only have one thought in my head.  This weight has got to go.

But then this is not my first foray into weight loss.  I’ve done Plana Forma.  Circuit training.  Yoga.  Weights.  I rekindled my love for running.  But my brother said I lacked one thing and it’s not determination.  It’s consistency.  I may be motivated and determined to be toned and all that but if I have too many rest days, the weight will just come right back.

I think that’s also one of the reasons why I gained faster this time compared to the time I managed to lose the weight.  I abruptly stop.

Anyway, moving on… I’m going to try out one of the workouts on Back On Pointe.  Been pinning a lot from it lately, and this workout caught my attention:

I like mornings.  I actually like waking up early.  I am kind in the morning, so it’s easy to associate me with the word ‘angel’ as long as it’s morning.  So yeah, maybe this kickoff would be a good start.

Plus of course, serious diet realignment.  More complex carbs, more protein.  Lesser sugar, lesser caffeine.  I challenged myself a few weeks back to not have coffee; I lasted a good five weeks.

Let’s see how long I can keep this up.  I figured this coupled with a good diet and maybe running at least five hours a week could eventually prep me for that big February 2013 event.  EHEHEHEHEHEEEEEEEM.

I’ll let you know how it goes.  Maybe this would be a good start for you too. :)

Day 25: All Day

Day 25 is a song I could listen to all day.

Okay, so I’ve obviously been delaying it because I honestly cannot believe it.  I ACTUALLY COMPLETED THIS ONE!  Hahahaha.  I know right?  In spite of the Cebu trip (more on that later), and the fact that I haven’t even posted our Holy Week Baguio escape (is it too late for that one?), I actually completed this song challenge.  I must admit I am pretty proud of myself.

And with that I end with a song I can listen to over and over again.  It’s mainly because it’s one of the happier songs I’ve heard and then it’s by one of my favorite bands, and I just can’t stop adoring them.  I envy Mo Twister for sitting front row in their most recent concert.  And I hate that they all have families and have perfectly happy family lives.  So not rock and roll, but hey!  It must be the new rock and roll theme:  happy and with family.

Thank you for those who joined me in this challenge.  Or rather, those who tuned in and placed bets whether or not I can finish this challenge.  I truly appreciate it.  Rest assured I am doing my best to make this blog far more entertaining than just posting songs, but it’s Coldplay.  How can anyone not love Coldplay? :)

Okay so it’s only three years old, but what can you do?  It’s a good running song, a cooking in the afternoon song, a wake up song, and a shower song when you have to shower really fast and you’re in a hurry.  It’s a good song right? :)

Day 12: Last Song

Day 12 is a song I last heard.

I am just a recent fan of Florence + The Machine since Gerald from the office told me to watch their SNL performance.  I immediately downloaded their Ceremonials album and fell in love with it.  The entire day, I’ve been playing it over and over, and this is the last song I heard before I started to write this post.

This is officially part of my running/workout playlist.  I always feel energized and optimistic whenever I hear this song and I’m quite happy to be caught with this song being the last one I heard. :)
