It’s purple pants day for me!

Actually, it’s not just for me.  I bought these pants about three weeks ago and I was yet to find a day to wear them, until I remembered a special day for a purple lady.

Jaja, I hope these photos make you happy.  To be frank, I did not tell anyone in the  family to wear purple, coz in my head, it’s such an odd request for a birthday.  But when we all got up and got dressed, this is what we ended up with.  I hope you have a happy birthday because you deserve it.  You work your butt off, you strive to make other people happy, you’re a fantastic friend/daughter/sister/lover (not that I’d know, but hey! Hehe), so I hope these purple marks make your day much better.

Happy birthday, Jaja!

Happy birthday, Jaja!  May all your wishes come true.  :)

Kai Mykonos

Hello, sweetie.  It’s nice to meet you.  I didn’t really expect an out-patient run on our first meeting, but hey!  I’m not really the choosy type.

You have your Tita Ida’s face when you’re peaceful, and (unfortunately for) Mommy Kimmy, when you’re about to cry.  I have photos to prove that.  I hope I won’t be murdered by your mother when she sees my point (wink).

But really, I’m happy to meet you.  Chuchi now has a playmate in you and you two will be raised by strong women surrounded by strong families that will ultimately keep you grounded.  They will forever be with you, to support you, to help you, to knock some God’s good sense in you.  You will be raised by families.  Not just one.  Families.

And I don’t think everyone is fortunate to have that.

But just so we’re clear, just so you know, we are far more fortunate to have you.

See you soon, sweetie.  I am eager for your weight gain so we can see your overloaded cheeks and inflated thighs.  They make for perfect photos.

The Grad Party and then some

So on Sunday night, my youngest brother Daniel and my dad celebrated their graduation and birthday respectively.  It has been a while since we hosted quite a shebang and my mother didn’t seem to have shown any intention of holding back.

A few weeks ago, my dad had a heart scare so the party was almost devoid of pork.  My dad cooked laing for the first time and it was a hit.  My lola couldn’t stop eating it.  There was morcon, stir fried vegetables, buttered shrimp and mushroom, kilawin tanigue, green mango salad with shrimp paste and spaghetti.  I know the last dish is out of the loop but it’s Daniel’s favorite.  It’s impossible for that to not be included in the menu.

The spaghetti came much later. :)

So everything was swanky and nice and coordinated… until the booze came out.

Now to be honest, I really didn’t know that we’re not supposed to fund our youngest brother’s drinking binge, so I gave him a couple of hundred to kick things off.  Well it sure did kick things off alright.

This is Justin before:

And the after…. is just way too gross for a photo.  Let’s just say it resembled something like this:

Imagine this to be a half naked guy. No kidding.

Then he thought my room was the bathroom and sat down on my floor pillow… and took a dump.  Again, I say, I am not kidding.

Then he was on the floor, his eyes just looking sooo stricken.  When they carried him to the room, they had to put an old shirt by this side because he was throwing up SIDEWAYS.  Do not underestimate the fact that it is not a joke!

Anyway, in the end, we still had to go to work the next morning, with Brother 3 completely hungover.  Justin is yet to hear what he did, but I’m pretty sure as of posting this, he won’t be drinking for a while.

Here’s an overview

I know I have not been  blogging as much as I should have and I am very much guilty about it, considering the fact that a lot has been going on and I should have been updating the one thing I have allowed to become a witness to everyone else.  Oh well.

But just to be clear, it’s been a good year so far.

So let me just start with yesterday.  I met with this little lady whom we’ve had in the family for a while.  I last saw her when she was just about 9 or 10 years old and now, well, we have the same shoe size.  It was so nice to see her again, and given the fact that she will be studying at SoFA for college, itwon’t be the last.  Thank God for that. :)

Me and Jasmin. And that annoying lady at the back.

Jasmin and boyfriend Chris

Almost as if it’s part of the ritual, I got my Belle De Jour 2011 planner from Jaja.  I honestly think this is the most sulit planner.  Really.  It has tons of coupons immediately at your disposal, and it’s quite impossible for you not to use them.  Just use all the Coffee Bean coupons and already you got your initial investment back.

After the two-hour chat with Jasmin (mostly dominated by moi, since I forced her to catch up with everyone in the family), I treated myself to a Greek Salad and a free glass of iced tea.  I ended up leaving Coffee Bean a little before nine.

Greek Salad, Sunrise Peach (I think) and Hunger Games

Fantastic treat, ain’t it?  More updates to come.  Hopefully, I get to live up to my word this time. :)

Today is a blessed day.

I had a three-hour night.  And it was the best three hour night.  I don’t have the rights to say why, but I just want to express my happiness.  I am so proud of my sister and best friend.  It truly is a good morning.

And here’s a little guide for us all.  Cheers to the future!

On Children
 Kahlil Gibran

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them,
but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
