Unwinding

It’s raining cats and dogs here in Cebu, and while I wait for my next client call, I strutted my stuff over to Pinterest.  It’s probably my major source of quick relief, so when the office blocked the website from our computers, I have to admit I died a little bit inside.

We could all use an escape nowadays.

I just love reading nooks.  That’s probably because I never really had one when I was younger.  Looking at reading nooks make me realize so many stories missed during my childhood, only because I didn’t have a silent space to think about things.  I fell in love with a lot of reading nooks a while back, but this is the latest one:

And maybe I would have avoided wearing these glasses had I thought of better lighting for my bed.  I will definitely find a way to squeeze something like this in my dream home.

I don’t know.  I’ve always thought I will go for a minimalist feel, but judging the pins I’ve been liking for the past 15 minutes, I guess home to me looks rustic.  Who wouldn’t love this office space?  It’s just so dreamy.

Enough dreaming for now.  I can hear the driver honking.  I hope he brought an umbrella this time.

The Perfect Bathtub

I was browsing Freshome for some home ideas when I saw the most perfect bathtub ever.  Introducing the VOV Bathtub by Mastella Design.

According to Freshome:

The VOV Bathtub is made from a single block of white K-plan: a compact, smooth, resistant material that is pleasant to the touch and quick and easy to clean…. The VOV Bathtub was designed for the pleasure of a relaxing and regenerating bath.

And it comes in black too.

It’s just so chic and amazing and adorable and neat and everything!  I love this bathtub!

I wonder now if we have this in the Philippines.  Oh well. :)  If it’s not available here, I better start scratching those lottery tickets coz I gots me some tubs to gets!

And to be clear, I don’t mind having a bathroom that’s designed like this. :)

DIY Glitter Heels

Okay, so here’s the thing.  I’ve seen Wobisobi do this unbelievably simple repair in this post and all over Pinterest, so I thought, I might as well try it.

And if you’re following me on Twitter, I’ve officially declared Saturday as DIY day.  Hahahaha.  This is me trying to be more…. how do you say it… resourceful.  I’ve so many things lying around everywhere.  I might as well put them to good use. :)

You will need four things:

  • paper plate
  • art brush
  • glue
  • glitter (color of your choice)

And of course, the heels that need fixin’.

On a paper plate, put a good amount of glue, and mix your glitter.  I had to mix the gold and silver to better match my heels.  You may need to play around with this for a bit:  for me, gold would have been too glaring with the nude, so I intended to tone it down with silver.

There’s no specific amount of glue and glitter to be combined, just make sure they will make a somewhat thick paste.

Then just coat your heels liberally.  Some of you may ask if you have to make the heels smoother, but really you don’t.  Unless of course you’re patient (unlike me).

Let the first coat dry before putting on another one.  If you put a second coat before it dries, you might form a clump somewhere.  Finish it off with a thin coat of glue and voila! :)

I cleaned up the messy parts with a good ol’ cotton swab. :)

I’ve read suggestions that this will also do well with sand for a more matte finish.  Some people also used clear glue for a glossy finish.

What are you waiting for?  Fix your heels already!

The lovely barn door

I’ve been seeing a lot of interior decor that involves the barn door.  I haven’t really completely appreciated the barn door yet, but somehow, when refurbished, it can easily be the missing piece of the room, if not the highlight of it.

It first caught my attention when it was used as the doorway to the bathroom.

Naturally, I find the used barn door more charming.  But these modern twists are not that bad at all.  It is a perfect separation for two spaces.

I love the fact that it cleanly divides working space from living space!

But I think I fell in love when it was used in contrasts and almost blending in to everything in the room.

I fell in love with barn doors.  Yeah.  My house will have one.  Definitely.

I need better storage space

For those who know me best, I know what you’re thinking.  Yes, my room is eternally chaotic.  Yes, it is a challenge for me to keep it organized.  No, I don’t think you can have too many books.  And yes, shoes have the same mantra.

It’s not like I hate organization; I actually do.  I just have a hard time actually doing it.  I wish I can create space, I really do, because I believe it’s just something I lack.  If I had more space — a long shelf for my shoes, a mini library for my books, an elevated rack for my books — I’m pretty sure I’ll have everything in order.

So I’ve decided to have someone make this bed for me.  Not only is it the ingenious way of storing books, with this bed, you can practically store anything!

I saw this on Pinterest and immediately, my mind went everywhere.  I can store DVDs, books, shoes, old magazines — finally declutter my room!

I wonder how much I’m going to pay for this.  Nonetheless, I believe it will be worth it.  :)

You know what else will be worth it?  A shower that gives you the option of having rain or waterfall.  At first, I couldn’t believe my eyes, then I started to click it.  And it’s for real!

This is another genius invention!  I just wish it wasn’t so expensive.  From the website, it costs $2,948.00 and that’s a lot of money for a shower head.

Still, I want it.  I wonder when I’ll be able to afford it.  I hope Home Depot or Homeworks or whichever home improvement store here in the Philippines start to carry something like this.  I bet it will be more affordable than the published US price.

So there.  Wants. :)  Actually, that’s a want and a need.

Note to self:  meet with a carpenter soon. :)
