The kings and queens of Promise

Like I said the other day, Dylan and I grabbed some Cheetos and watched The Legend of the Guardians at the SM Mall of Asia 3D theatre.  Like promised, here’s my take on the film.

When I first saw the trailer, I was immediately interested, mainly because the owls reminded me of Harry Potter’s snow white owl, Hedwig.  It’s quite unusual really, when you come to think about it.  Looking back on your childhood, did you really imagine that owls can be so fierce (and by fierce, I mean warrior fierce, not diva fierce)?

Anyway, the film is visually SPECTACULAR.  I am going to be brave and say that it can rival Avatar when it comes to landscapes and settings and movement and detail.  It was so amazing.  And funny, because when we watched it, there was a kid in front of us that kept raising his hand, probably trying to touch the characters.  But his mean dad kept scolding him.  Note to self:  hate that kid’s dad.

However, the movie in general is just an average movie.  I think one of the main mistakes they made was having the same animal.  It’s a movie for kids, and unfortunately, kids have a hard time distinguishing personalities when they look alike.  That’s the reason why Lion King was of epic proportions; mention a character name and you’d know right away how it looks like and (better) what kidn of animal it was.

I am not discounting the fact that the story wasn’t rich with characters because it was.  Soren is the dreamer, the evident protagonist.  Eglantine is the youngest sister, the one that idolises Soren.  And if you have three kids there, there’s bound to be one that is envious and spiteful… hence, the existence of Kludd.

It’s the tragic story of Mudblood and Pure Blood.  Of course, it was narrated by the most animated narrator I’ve ever heard.  Just so you know, it’s an all-British cast, so when you bring your kid to the movie, be prepared to answer the question “Ano daw? (What did s/he say?)”

I enjoyed the movie very much.  To be frank, even if the story didn’t blow to large proportions like the visuals did, it was still a very enjoyable family movie.  Guaranteed, you’ll fall in love with the female owls, go gaga over Eglantine, and just be awestruck when you see the perfect combination of flight and water.

And when your jaw drops because of the amazing theatrics, please give me a call. :)

Score:  3.5/5

Blogging to you now, LIVE!

It is quite amusing how I’ve found this nifty little thing to be available here in the office.  I have tons of work to do, but I know I just have to write down a few words before everything gets hectic again.

This month shows a lot of promise, mainly because it is so jampacked.  On Saturday, I’m attending a photoshoot of an event I am yet to secure permission before announcing.  It’s quite personal but because it’s for someone close to my heart, I am excited.  Then on Sunday, my cousin Kuya Marc is arriving from New Jersey.  Whoopdeedoo!  I love him and all, but my family knows very well that I love him best because he’s bringing me my shoes.

For the new followers, I am a shoe whore.  I’m not even afraid of saying it out loud.  Shoe whore.  Mother effin’ shoe whore.  I once spent 20,000 on shoes, because they were on sale and they were my favorite local brand.  Yup.  I’m a slut like that.

Then there’s the event that follows the photoshoot.   Hahahaha.  I can’t really contain the excitement because it has been a while since I last hosted something.  I can’t wait to get rid of my discretion.

When it comes to work, every detail counts and I am very happy where I am right now.  I am in a position where I am actually contributing to something with a purpose.  It can be hell sometimes, especially when my boss gets a knack of giving me tough deadlines, but it keeps me on my toes.  For once, I am not sleepy nor groggy after lunch.  So much for the godly hour.

Anyway, I hope your month is as packed as mine.  Started this month right by watching Legend of the Guardians last night.  IT.  WAS.  AWESOME.  But more of that later.

For now, I give you my love. :)

Hair, there, everywhere!

After the day’s pictorial (yes, there was one at work, just from an ID picture), I started to miss my hair.  I’ve been shifting lengths year after year, and this year, I believe I dislike the fact that my hair is starting to grow slower than it used to.

Here’s a look at my hair through the years.  I know it’s not that interesting, but I really miss my hair.  I wonder which of these styles you think fit me best.

If I'm not mistaken, this was... 2002.

This was at the tail end of my college years, 2003.

Of course by now it has created its own volume, mainly focused around my cheeks.

Dear God.  Please make my hair grow fast again.  Right now, it’s awkward and not-so-pretty.  I promise I won’t curl it.  Thank you.

The day I renewed my NBI Clearance

I made sure I got up early because I needed to pass by my college for my transcript.  Then I sped to Megamall for my NBI clearance renewal.

That satellite office processes faster than the head office, at least that’s how I remembered it.  When Dylan and I had his clearance renewed, it only took at most an hour.  Mine took five.  Five long painful hours.

The NBI satellite office is located at the lower ground floor, Mega Building B, near Luk Yuen restaurant.  The line extended up to the stairs.  Then it went up to the fifth level.  And the line was still long, so from the fifth level, the line stretched descending the stairs from across the hall.

The mall doors opened at 10 in the morning and I was there by 10:05.  I fell in line…. at the lower ground floor…. from the stairs across the hall.

This is the view from the fourth level of the second set of stairs.

Then the line would extend across the hall at the fifth floor.

This is the view from the fifth floor at the original set of stairs. Time to go down. This is hour 3.

Third level. This is hour four.

SM Food Court ad. Quite funny coz the people's table had water/wine goblets. Obviously, they're not dining at SM Food Court.

So to ease the pain from my legs, I decided to comfort myself with Krispy Kreme.  I dragged my mother along with me but she was thinking of something else.

We still bought Krispy Kreme, but she definitely preferred BreadTalk. Hahaha.

I was really trying to enjoy my doughnut break....

... if I wasn't so disturbed by this rude person. He's occupying the best seats in the house and HE DID NOT EVEN ORDER ANYTHING.

I hate this kind of assholes.

Let’s end with a happy note.

One dozen glazed goodness. :)

Everything in between

I haven’t written for the past week.  That’s how it felt like.  Looking at the last few posts, I realized how impersonal they were.  And how I’ve been avoiding confronting myself lately.

I’d like to think it’s the usual hump, the big gap, the missing part, or at least that space between here and there that you can’t quite decipher.  I’d like to think that I just have nothing much to write.  I’d like to think so many things… but I have been thinking too much.
