The Perfect Bathtub

I was browsing Freshome for some home ideas when I saw the most perfect bathtub ever.  Introducing the VOV Bathtub by Mastella Design.

According to Freshome:

The VOV Bathtub is made from a single block of white K-plan: a compact, smooth, resistant material that is pleasant to the touch and quick and easy to clean…. The VOV Bathtub was designed for the pleasure of a relaxing and regenerating bath.

And it comes in black too.

It’s just so chic and amazing and adorable and neat and everything!  I love this bathtub!

I wonder now if we have this in the Philippines.  Oh well. :)  If it’s not available here, I better start scratching those lottery tickets coz I gots me some tubs to gets!

And to be clear, I don’t mind having a bathroom that’s designed like this. :)

The  baby isn’t even out in the world yet but come on.  You have to admit she’s one hot momma.

This photo is ages ago, but I still can’t get over how hot she is.

Pinterest Day: Stove Top Mac and Cheese

Anyone who is on Pinterest can attest to the desire to make or create at least one of the things we pin to our board.  But then, no one ever really gets around them.  Since my glitter heel venture, I’ve decided to bite the bullet and try another Pinterest venture, this time in the kitchen.

I found this stove-top macaroni and cheese recipe from Evil Shenanigans, and well, it turned out pretty okay.

Here are your ingredients:

8oz macaroni, or any smallish tube shaped pasta
1 tablespoon butter
6 oz evaporated milk
6 oz freshly grated cheddar cheese
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
1/4 teaspoon red pepper
Hot sauce, to taste
Salt and pepper

I’m pretty much guilty about not measuring stuff.  I’m more like, “That looks like 8 ounces!” or “I think that’s about a tablespoon”, so I’m quite lucky that it turned out pretty well.

Cook the pasta as directed, but deduct one minute from actual cooking time.  You’re going to need that one minute to prevent it from getting soggy.  Drain the pasta and put in back in the saucepan.  On medium heat, melt the butter well.

Mix together the egg, milk, mustard and red pepper, then pour it over the pasta.  It’ll thicken in about four minutes.  Remove pasta from the heat and slowly stir in the cheese.

No, I didn’t measure the cheese.  You can never have too much cheese.  Ask my niece Chuchi.

My finished product:

I know it’s nowhere close to the one from Pinterest, and I believe it’s mainly because I used too little milk.  The mac and cheese turned out quite “webby” with the cheese absolutely visible when pulled apart. What I liked about it though is the fact that I substituted ½ teaspoon of red pepper for the hot sauce.  It was like mac and cheese with a kick.

What I was trying to recreate:

Next time I do this, it would be best to measure everything right?  Hahaha.  I find that funny because I know I’ll approximate yet again.  And dump more milk and cheese.  And more spicy stuff.  Oh well.

This dish goes best with meat.  It’s also a good afternoon snack.  Kids will go crazy for this.

Till the next Pinterest day!

Turning to Adidas

I am a Nike whore.  Really.  I don’t remember ever buying a pair of running shoes from anywhere else but Nike.  Ever since I started running, it has always been Nike.

My mother and I shopped the entire weekend.  Because of the big sale in the south, I just had to save a little on running shoes.  After all, it is a period of austerity, at least for me.  With upcoming school and paying for it myself, I want to save what I can, so I was counting on the sale to save a few thousands.

True enough, the sale was worth it.  The downside?  Nike ran out of everything under women’s running.  My heart stopped.  I immediately called Dylan in a panic, and he was quick to quip, “Get an Adidas.”

For me, the statement sounded like, “YEAH I SAID IT.”  But I had no other choice.  My two runners are just in a sorry state.  I don’t have that much cash on me.  I need to start training for a long distance run for early next year.  I need those shoes.

So I went over to Adidas and started browsing.  To be fair, the selection looks good.  I wasn’t able to take photos because the place was just chaotic.  Then I noticed something:  women’s running have like three designs left.  I looked at the soles of each design and the two had a dreadful statement taped to it:  LAST PAIR.

I turned over the funkiest looking one.  And it was marked with this:  6.5 (1), 7(2)(1), 9(1).  I know those numbers.  Those are sizes and available stocks.  I am a 7.  I have to get that 7.

And so I did.  Funky yes?

So tomorrow (if not later), I’ll let you know how it feels running in these.  Adidas is endorsed by Katy Perry, and I really like her.  So she can’t be that wrong right?

It still feels weird seeing stripes.

Oh by the way, I got this for 10% off and because I shopped so much, I got an additional 5% rebate.  Sale shopping is nice.

Pen and paper love

I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but I love posting written notes on this blog.  Something just feels so personal and emotional about it, and most of the time, they fit my mood! :)

Anyway, my cousin works for Telus now and my best friend/sister/cousin/blehehehehe Marga has rekindled her love for calligraphy.  Check out her work!

I’m pretty sure if she had a scanner at her disposal, these works would be better translated online. :)  For the meantime, she snaps her works and posts them on her Instagram.  Follow her and you get the privilege of viewing the most adorable baby alive.

And because of what she’s doing, it kind of inspired me to make some of my own.  I have these words in my head and maybe some of my readers think it too, and it wouldn’t really hurt right?  I mean, it’s words and they’re mine.  Unless a plagiarizing senator encounters them on my blog, I have nothing to worry about right?

(Except of course, my potty mouth and my need to constantly associate triumph and failure with profanity, including motivations and other what nots will easily be in full view of my conservative family.  Bah, what the heck.  Imma fuckin’ do it anyway.)

And that, in turn, gave me reasons to buy new pens and blank sheets of paper.

And kids, THAT is how you create reasons to shop.

That’s all.  :)
