Time to go healthy!

I credit my recent weight loss initially to Plana Forma.  To be honest, I want to go back to doing that, but their studio is way too inaccessible for me.  I’m hoping that they set up a Makati studio soon.  Anywhere in Makati is accessible for me.

So when I stopped Plana Forma (I did about 10 or 12 sessions?  It’s sooooo good.), I resorted to the company gym.  Mondays and Tuesdays, I run.  I usually just run too on Wednesdays, but when I discovered Taebo at the Penthouse and how it gallantly kicks my ass, that has officially settled in as my Wednesday routine.  First week on this schedule, I lost three pounds.  I better keep it up.

I started looking for food that will easily be a healthy fix.  If there’s something I need to cure, it’s my spontaneous eating habits.  Then I saw this:

I want to know where I can find blueberry cream cheese.  I just had second breakfast, and now, I want to eat again!

This is sooo not helping my diet.

Day 10: Childhood memory

I chose  these subjects because they bring me back to the early 1990s, when these things were my ultimate comfort foods.

Chocolate Crinkles
I loved these things because of the powdered sugar.  I love that the outside is tough but the inside is moist and soft.  I get to lick my sweet fingers as a finisher.  They don’t make them as good anymore.

Dunkin Donuts Choco Honey Dipped
What I am most thankful for the last year is the invention of Big Dunk here in the Philippines.  This snack never changed its taste.  I still love this, though I have to admit I haven’t eaten this as much.  I guess when you grow older, you can’t help but keep track at the amount of sugar you consume in a day.

Lala Chocolate Snack
I remember the old lady that sells this thing for 25c a piece.  The wrapper has changed and now, it has an ube (purple yam) variant.  That one doesn’t taste as good; it’s predominantly artificial flavoring.  But this…. still the same after all these years.

KitKat Snack Bar
I remember this the most because while Pringles Cheese has lesser flavoring and M&Ms had oilier shell coating, this is just the same.  Have a break, have a KitKat.  Still the same.  I remember my lola getting me this after work, with a heavy heart of course.  She’d much rather get me the banana cue from the hamlet.  She gets me both. :)

For some reason, I remember my lolo.  And I miss him so much.  I never stopped.

 

 

 

Care for Lunch?

I had a seminar today sponsored by the World Bank at Discovery Suites in Ortigas.  It was one of the most informative seminars I’ve been to and I can’t wait for the go signal to talk about it.

Anyway, Discovery was nice, but the carpets looked frayed and old. Don’t even get me started with the bathroom.  The outside was pretty, all zen and shit, but the cubicles?  Very reminiscent of my high school bathroom, 4×7 in size, narrow and very un-suite-like.  Ugh.

Good thing the food made up for it.

This is the carrot cream soup.  It had a taste of ginger, semi-sweet, and a hint of spring onions and garlic.  It’s surprisingly really good, but it doesn’t look like it.  It could’ve used some presentation.  Honestly, it looked like kiddie barf.  Hahahaha.

This is a very good serving.  I had a little bit of the ratatouille on the side and the zucchini was perfect — crunchy with a good kick of tomato.  For snacks, they had the corned beef crepe (I believe they made their own corned beef) topped with marinara sauce.  All.  Oh.   So.  Good.

It’s days like these that make me love my job. :)

A funny day at Rodic’s

I introduced Dylan to Rodic’s.  For those who studied at UP, this eatery is a staple. :)  It serves what I believe is the best tapa I’ve ever tasted (or at least, those quickie made ones).  So when Dylan picked me up for breakfast one time, I decided to take him to a Rodic’s branch at the end of Maginhawa.

We formed a habit of drinking Berocca for breakfast (in hopes of creating a stronger immune system).

After having their usual tapsilog (of course, it’s the usual for me since I’ve been having it for almost a year now), Dylan ended up looking like this.

Then we noticed something on the menu.  And we had a hard time stifling our laughter.  We didn’t want to be rude; it was barely 10 in the morning!

I'm sure you'll spot it, just look closer. XD

Ah, it’s the simple joys of life that never fail to make a day better. :)

Hap Chan, TOSH and Shakey’s

We’ve been trying very hard to be an interesting family again.  And by interesting, I mean rediscover the beauty of dining out.  It was quite fun, convincing my mother to dine out one evening.  To be honest, if there won’t be an event, I highly doubt we’d ever eat out.  That’s the price you pay for having parents that cook like chefs and are satisfied with the usual dishes.

So yeah, I elbowed them to get me my fix of dining out.  First stop was Hap Chan, about a couple of weeks ago. :)

They have pretty good house tea. We had about two refills of this.

Their shark's fin dumpling is soooo good.
