Engaged? Here’s a top of the line stylized shoot for a cause for you!

I just love how Filipinos think of so many ways to help.

Bride and Breakfast has always been my source of simple joys.  There’s something about the optimism and romanticism of that wedding inspiration website that cheers up a gloomy day.  Imagine my joy when I saw Janna Simpao’s most recent blog:

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL INITIATIVE!!!!

Here’s what I lifted from the site:

Couples will go in for hair, makeup, and styling. Each photographer is assigned one set design. When the shoot proper starts, couples get to enjoy 15 minutes in each set design, then they move to the next as the buzzer goes off. How fun is that, right?!

For only P8,500 per couple that will go directly to UNICEF’s relief efforts for Yolanda victims, couples get to be stylized, made up and photographed by the country’s most creative and talented photographers, stylists, hair and makeup artists, wardrobe stylists and more.  And all they have to do is bring a range of clothing from formal to casual!

I don’t know about you, but this shoot marathon is such a cost efficient way to take your prenuptial photos!

BUT DON’T FORGET TO RESERVE YOUR SLOTS AS THERE ARE ONLY 40!  Here’s how to join:

  1. Register here: http://goo.gl/CbScQj
    • Once the maximum number of slots are reached per schedule (AM/PM), succeeding registrations will be placed on the wait list.
  2. If there is still an available slot for you, you will receive a slot confirmation email. This will contain payment details and other information.
    • Payment options are BPI or BDO deposit, and credit card via PayPal.
    • Once the maximum number of slots are reached, succeeding registrations will be placed on the wait list.
  3. Submit proof of payment (e.g. deposit slip, confirmation email) by November 14, 2013; 11:59pm to secure your slot.

You so fly

Okay, so I know I just restarted with the photography classes and all, but as we finish our basic course on Saturday, I kind of felt guilty for letting the blog become inactive again.

Remember the first homework?  Well, I got best photo.  Here it is:

You So Fly

I remember the next instructor encouraging us to get out of the city more.  The best images are not to be captured here, and she’s right.  Here, we only have flies for macro shots.  Hahaha.

But frankly speaking though, I haven’t really been true to the promise I’ve made when I said I am going to commune with nature more.  The days are just longer and harder to live through, and the process of moving on is taking longer than expected.

Or maybe I’m just impatient.

And it’s not like I’m not blessed.  I am filled with so much love from people I least expected.  It’s quite humbling actually.  I just wish I don’t have to draw so much from them just to keep my feet grounded, my knees steady.

I miss him every day.  I love him every day.  I wish I can share these with him because I know he’d be proud of me.

I guess he’d have to be proud of me from afar.

Surviving Day 1

So yesterday was my second Day 1 in Basic Photography.  It was basically a longer version of my actual first day, only with about 21 more people.  It was nice to see everyone, even if I didn’t really come to know everyone.  I guess what I’m saying is, it’s good to be in a roomful of people who share the same enthusiasms as you.

Anyway, I got to listen to Ador go through his lesson again, and it was very very interesting still.  He was right — the jokes are on repeat too!  But yeah, I still laughed at them as if it’s the first time I’m hearing them.

The class was held in this bunker type space.  I completely fell in love with it the moment I stepped in.  I cannot wait to go back next week!  Hopefully, by then, I would know how to commute and navigate through the area.  I’m thinking of coming in earlier than usual, so I can take photos of the Manila Cathedral.  Even though I’m not Catholic, I cannot deny the kilig I get when I see those old structures standing with such magnificence.  It’s aching to be photographed.

I’m quite ecstatic right now because these classes really remind me of what I really love.  It’s not a bad distraction actually from the drama I’ve subjected myself this year.

So after my first Monday class, I went out for lunch and took a couple of practice shots.  No edits, just a watermark.  What do you think?

Did I get you guys hungry? :p

Be a traveler

Given the number of misfortunes I seem to be in constant contact with this year, I’ve long decided to start communing with nature and just pick myself up.  It has been a while since I last did that, so I’m quite scared and excited at the same time.

My first photography class will start on Monday!  Yay!  I signed up for Photoworld Manila’s Basic Photography Classes in AIM Makati.  I’m quite psyched.  I’ve been planning for so long to take these classes.  Now that I am armed with this baby, I don’t see why I should even delay these!

I don’t know why I waited so long to make this purchase when I know for a fact I always have wanted this.

I now regret all the money spent on clothes and shoes that look the same.

What I’m mostly excited about is traveling.  I’ve already made some arrangements — solo and with a group — and I hope by the time I’m about to leave, I’m ready to take blog-worthy photos.

In the meantime, I have Instagram as my creative outlet.  My photoblog is running on empty.  I hope you’ll all be around still when I start snapping away again.

To end this post, I leave you with a takeaway from Laws of A Modern Woman (I like to pretend I abide by them):

Have a great weekend everyone.  Don’t forget to mend your heart.
