Kai Mykonos

Hello, sweetie.  It’s nice to meet you.  I didn’t really expect an out-patient run on our first meeting, but hey!  I’m not really the choosy type.

You have your Tita Ida’s face when you’re peaceful, and (unfortunately for) Mommy Kimmy, when you’re about to cry.  I have photos to prove that.  I hope I won’t be murdered by your mother when she sees my point (wink).

But really, I’m happy to meet you.  Chuchi now has a playmate in you and you two will be raised by strong women surrounded by strong families that will ultimately keep you grounded.  They will forever be with you, to support you, to help you, to knock some God’s good sense in you.  You will be raised by families.  Not just one.  Families.

And I don’t think everyone is fortunate to have that.

But just so we’re clear, just so you know, we are far more fortunate to have you.

See you soon, sweetie.  I am eager for your weight gain so we can see your overloaded cheeks and inflated thighs.  They make for perfect photos.

Forever21 in Makati!

I haven’t been posting for a while so you can say that this is no longer news.  My original plan to flock Forever21 on opening day at lunchtime was completely botched with the news that people had to line up just to get it.

And there is no way in hell am I going to wait under the hot hot hot summer sun just to get in a store.

So I went there on a random lunch hour, browsed for the items I want, then went back to work.  That afternoon, I decided to go there and pick them up.  They were all accessories, by the way, since I want to do the Speedy Gonzales and go home right after picking up my mom in the office (it was a long day at work).

On my way there, Jackie texted and we decided to meet up.  Check out our oh so affordable loot!

Disc earrings for P245, Stud set for P175

Some ignorant twat said my ring is the image of the devil.  Some people are just born in this earth so we have proof of our intelligence.  It’s a ram.  The Capricorn.  Twat indeed.

And of course, Jackie. :)

And I am yet to score more deals from this store.  I like the fact that the prices are soooo department store-ish.  Thank you, Henry Sy, for the genius that you are.  Maybe you should have franchised Payless too.

Just saying. :)

The Grad Party and then some

So on Sunday night, my youngest brother Daniel and my dad celebrated their graduation and birthday respectively.  It has been a while since we hosted quite a shebang and my mother didn’t seem to have shown any intention of holding back.

A few weeks ago, my dad had a heart scare so the party was almost devoid of pork.  My dad cooked laing for the first time and it was a hit.  My lola couldn’t stop eating it.  There was morcon, stir fried vegetables, buttered shrimp and mushroom, kilawin tanigue, green mango salad with shrimp paste and spaghetti.  I know the last dish is out of the loop but it’s Daniel’s favorite.  It’s impossible for that to not be included in the menu.

The spaghetti came much later. :)

So everything was swanky and nice and coordinated… until the booze came out.

Now to be honest, I really didn’t know that we’re not supposed to fund our youngest brother’s drinking binge, so I gave him a couple of hundred to kick things off.  Well it sure did kick things off alright.

This is Justin before:

And the after…. is just way too gross for a photo.  Let’s just say it resembled something like this:

Imagine this to be a half naked guy. No kidding.

Then he thought my room was the bathroom and sat down on my floor pillow… and took a dump.  Again, I say, I am not kidding.

Then he was on the floor, his eyes just looking sooo stricken.  When they carried him to the room, they had to put an old shirt by this side because he was throwing up SIDEWAYS.  Do not underestimate the fact that it is not a joke!

Anyway, in the end, we still had to go to work the next morning, with Brother 3 completely hungover.  Justin is yet to hear what he did, but I’m pretty sure as of posting this, he won’t be drinking for a while.

Ah, to welcome the world of unemployment

Yesterday was my brother’s graduation party combined with my dad’s birthday party.

Today, I woke up to the stench of unrestricted drinking of cheap brandy and warm beer.

I never thought I’d smell that again.

Details later. :)

Machiko Skye

It’s always a surprise, growing up.

You are by far the best surprise we’ve ever had.  You see, she is my first love.  She’s stronger than how she often portrays herself, and I think it came as a surprise to her too, when you came into this world and she was braver.

I may be her first love, but you are her last.  That I am sure of.

I know I haven’t really been as around as I wanted to be, but your growth never fails to surprise me.  You’re a happy kid.  And you’re full of laughter.  You have no idea how much you changed her life.  I believe you made her a better person.

And that, my dear Chuchi, is a gift no one else can give to her.

P.S.
I am happy you have found your tongue and are now exploring your feet.  You will be a shoe-aholic, like me.  That’s my gift to you.  I cannot wait for the day we can shop shoes together.  I hope when that day comes, you will no longer find joy in sucking on your toe. :)  I love you!
